- TAPERED POLES
These are poles that have been put through a peeler and have their bark peeled off. They are primarily used in the vineyard trellising market, agricultural fencing and general building market.
- CYLINDRICAL POLES
Cylindrical poles are lathe turned, therefore they have the same diameter right through. These are a more “superior” poles and are used primarily in the export, housing and landscaping markets. The ever popular “ranch style” fencing or post and rail is also produced using cylindrical poles.
- GARDEN PRODUCTS
Wired garden edging, wooden pavers, benches, lathe trellises and lathe screens are amongst the many garden landscaping products we produce.
Lathes and droppers that are used in thatching, fencing and decorative applications are also produced.
TREATING - To protect the public from improper practices we have regulations and specifications.
All our poles are treated in accordance with the SABS specifications, using TANALITH WEATHERWOOD Treatment, producing weather resistant poles that will not affect vegetation or leach.
All our poles are treated in accordance with the SABS specifications, using TANALITH WEATHERWOOD Treatment, producing weather resistant poles that will not affect vegetation or leach.

The SABS is the standards inspecting body that ensures adherence to these requirements. Their mark of compliance indicated that the product is fit for its intended use.
Tapered poles fall under the specification SABS 457 and Cylindrical poles under SABS 1288. The SABS mark indicates that our timber product has been prepared in such a way that:
- The correct amount of preservative has been used and our product will not rot or be eaten by insects.
- The company treating the product can be easily identified
Hazard Class – The purpose for which the timber is being purchased defines the treatment required. A pole to be used in a roof need not be treated with the same amount of chemical as a pole being used for a jetty. The treatment changes with different applications. The chemicals need not penetrate to the same depth, nor need the solution be the same. The more hazardous the application , the deeper the chemical.
An example of this is as follows:
H2 – internal ie. Roof trusses
H3 – exterior above ground ie. Outdoor decking, cladding
H4 – exterior in ground ie. Agricultural posts, carports
H5 – freshwater ie. Jetties, certain retaining walls
H6 – marine ie. Jetties
IT IS IMPORTANT TO BUY ONLY SABS MARKED TIMBER AND CHOOSE THE RIGHT TREATED TIMBER FOR THE RIGHT JOB
Our Tanalised Weatherwood timber poles are backed by a transferable 25 year lifetime guarantee. The guarantee is on the treatment of the timber, ie. Guaranteed protection against insect attack as well as wood decay.
